Adjusted Age

We use "adjusted age" when dealing with sleep for preemies born at 37 weeks gestation or earlier because so much brain development occurs in the womb in the last month of pregnancy. This helps us to have age appropriate expectations and strategies based on your little one's development.

To find your baby's adjusted age, you will calculate your baby's "age" from your due date rather than birthdate. For example, if your little one is 15 weeks old but was born 5 weeks early, his adjusted age would be 10 weeks.

Please use adjusted age when choosing and applying Taking Cara Babies resources.

For those born "late" or after your due date, we simply use actual age.
